5 Funny but "Fishy" Hacks for DIY Recycling Crafts for your Toonrific Packaging

5 Funny but "Fishy" Hacks for Recycling your Toonrific Packaging

Congratulations on your new Toonrific Stylish Safety Sign!

We package them all as best we can to ensure that your sign arrives safely, undamaged. We also hope you can re-use the wrapping in fun, creative ways that can also be of value. Throwing it out as rubbish can be throwing away fun and creative opportunities.

For example; if you love fish, fishing or splashing like a fish in any kind of water, then we hope these "fishy" fun facts and tips can help you to feel "so-fish-ticated." Just squidding. You'll "eel" better making these with your "reely fin-tastic" friends... but if you think of any more DIY Recycled Package Ideas for our packaging... now that it's YOUR packaging... please drop us a line!

1. Floating Toys for Fido

You need: A dog, a stick and some water. Most people stop there and wonder why their stick sinks.

Method: Wrap a stick in chunks of styrofoam, then duct-tape it up nice and tight, and throw it. It doesn't need to be pretty. It'll be slick and slimy with drool in no-time. Or for fancier sticks, see our tips below for Funny Floating Fishing Lures - but without the sharp hooks.

Optional: At a pool party, use kids instead of a dog, and make a swimming game out of fetching and retrieving the most floaties (without using their mouths... Ew! Who invited that child?)

Bonus Tip for Pool & Spa Owners:
Host a pool party contest where guests make their own DIY Styrofoam craft floating toys.

Water Safety Tip: make sure everybody sees and reads your new stylish CPR charts for Pets and People, (in that wise place you hung it so they need to pass it BEFORE entering your pool or spa area.)

Tammy with Toonrific's World 1st Trophy; says Our CPR Charts for Pets use the latest techniques from veterinary research, inluding drowning in barrel-chested dogs. Designed to match our CPR Charts for Humans. Pets are people too.
Or maybe you prefer that your guests see your #1 Rule: Don't Leak in the Pool:

Number one rule - Do not leak in this pool. Or Poseidon, Greek God of Water - will Smite you. And if he doesn't we will. This cute funny image shows Lambsfry the golden fleeced lamb from the Toonrific Logo, getting ready to go swimming in a beautiful pool. This Safety sign is for Pool or Spa Hygiene and is available in 3 colors to match your pool water. This image is for the whole category of pool and spa signs but shows the Lagoon green version of this safety sign for pool and spa hygiene.

2. Funny Floating Fishing Lures

Do they work? We have no idea. We were never great at catching fish in the first place. But they're fun, friendly and make it look like we know what we're doing (to others who have no idea what they're doing either.) See the 9 in our banner for ideas, or brainstorm your own.

You need: Styrofoam, a sharp knife/blade, duct tape and fish-friendly non-toxic paint. Plus extra duct-tape and toothpicks or twigs if you also want to make anything with wings or fins.

Method: Cut a shape, bind it in tape and paint it. Any shapes can be funny; fish, insects, alcohol bottles, alien space ships, or whatever blobby shapes that break off in the process. Make eyes by either; drawing them on, poking holes in the tape, or balling up a bit more tape and sticking it on as eye-sized bumps. For fins and wings, layer a few bits of duct-tape until it's thick enough to suit your creation. Use toothpicks or twigs as bones to add some carefully engineered "structural integrity" if required. It's not rocket science. If you're having enough fun with friends, the worse it looks, the more you'll laugh.

Optional:

  • Teeth: cut from the plastic lid of a butter container.
  • Button Eyes: For friends who decided to keep their floaties as desk ornaments, some of them used a few glue-on style button eyes, but they fall off easy and can be choking hazards for children and puppies. So we tried the stitch-on button eyes, but then we also needed a needle, thread and first aide kit (for every time we poked ourselves while trying to thread the dang needle!)
  •  A funny clever meme about polystyrene and styrofoam where Tammy says Did you know, Styrofoam is basically polystyrene whipped with air. It's great for packaging, insulation and floating devices but it can be dangerous to bio-degrade, burn or breathe. Please use and re-use it safely to avoid all the nasty little dangers.

    3. Bait Box Liner

Our Styrofoam packing sheets are the perfect thickness for use as insulating liners for plastic bait boxes to help keep your bait cool and fresher for longer.

    4. Tackle Organizer

Stick your sharp bits into a handy sheet of foam instead of your finger, foot or butt for a change.

    5. Styrofoam Cooler

Who needs a fancy cooler when you've got Styrofoam? Line the inside of a cardboard box with those Styrofoam sheets and you've got a budget-friendly way to keep your drinks and snacks chilled.

Happy crafting, and don't forget to share your creations with us on social media using the hashtag #ToonrificRecycling!
